platform Design Example: UX of Government forms

Throughout my time at Health ELT, we had one guiding rule: Make even our products in government healthcare as easy to use as any consumer app. What was a key result of success? That someone with no training, who didn’t even work in the space, could successfully complete the complex government forms required as part of a Medicaid home health assessment.

We succeeded. Throughout my career, I’ve believed that good design breeds usable technology. And all technology should be usable technology. So whether in public health, complex enterprise sites, or in consumer experiences, usability should be top of mind.

Consulting Project Example: Home Design App

We met this well respected home builder with a thriving brand when she’d had a clear idea for an app she and her clients needed to help organize and execute on home design, building, and renovation projects. She had previously worked with an agency to get the app of her dreams, but while functional it wasn’t usable, let alone enjoyable. To label something in two different rooms took 16 clicks. We got it down to two.

We worked with her to bring her real vision to life. I teamed up with a great UX designer and a developer of the highest quality to build an MVP, and leave her with a clear roadmap that really let the home projects shine.

Because of the content, we chose to really let the app be about photos themselves. Because of the nature of inviting and sharing via link, we opted for a progressive web app rather than a native mobile app for MVP. This app is launching soon.
